I've got an urge to do something daft... let's dance in the rain and rejoice in life..... ... and no, I'm not wearing purple today!

The Dogmother
This just made me chortle... A duck walks into a pub and orders a pint of beer and a ham sandwich. The barman looks at him and says, "Hang on! You're a duck." "I see your eyes are working," replies the duck. "And you can talk!" exclaims the barman. "I see your ears are working, too," says the duck. "Now if you don't mind, can I have my beer and my sandwich please?" "Certainly, sorry about that," says the barman as he pulls the duck's pint. "It's just we don't get many ducks in this pub. What are you doing round this way?" "I'm working on the building site across the road," explains the duck. "I'm a plasterer." The flabbergasted barman cannot believe the duck and wants to learn more, but takes the hint when the duck pulls out a newspaper from his bag and proceeds to read it. So, the duck reads his paper, drinks his beer, eats his sandwich, bids the barman good day and leaves. The same thing happens for two weeks. Then one day the circus comes to town. The ringmaster comes into the pub for a pint and the barman says to him "You're with the circus, aren't you? Well, I know this duck that could be just brilliant in your circus. He talks, drinks beer, eats sandwiches, reads the newspaper and everything!" "Sounds marvellous," says the ringmaster, handing over his business card. "Get him to give me a call." So the next day when the duck comes into the pub the barman says, "Hey Mr Duck, I reckon I can line you up with a top job, paying really good money." "I'm always looking for the next job," says the duck. "Where is it?" "At the circus," says the barman. "The circus?" repeats the duck. "That's right," replies the barman. "The circus?" the duck asks again. "That place with the big tent?" "Yeah," the barman replies. "With all the animals who live in cages, and performers who live in caravans?" says the duck. "Of course," the barman replies. "And the tent has canvas sides and a big canvas roof with a hole in the middle?" persists the duck. "That's right!" says the barman. The duck shakes his head in amazement, and says "What the hell would they want with a plasterer??!" Oh, and Buffie, can I have the logs from your tree? The Dogmother
You're right there Buffie. I love pottering around in the garden after I get back from work.. makes me feel like I have a life, instead of getting in and closing the doors and curtains. Guest
I'm happy because... Chookiehubbie FINALLY built the first of the raised beds at the weekend (sorry Christian!), out of an old pallet free from the building site, and I have several packets of free seeds from my mum to plant in them this weekend. My GP prescribed a lovely homeopathic remedy for Squidgers (Iain) colic yesterday, and he settled almost instantly after his first dose. I have a double decker in the cupboard for after lunch..... BeckyBoo
I know! It's fab isn't it?! There's a cafe near my Mums that has had them for years and they got theirs in London (I stopped to ask as I couldn't find them anywhere!) Then went to Homebase to buy a paint roller and tray and THERE IT WAS!! And it just shouted at me to be bought - it even had my name on it, so I just had to. And the best bit is that in real life it's a MUCH brighter pink, fuschia even Kids think it's OH, well, haven't seen him since Sunday and don't much care what he thinks at this point in time tbh! Cate in NZ
What a brilliant post, sometimes it's important to step back and focus on the good things instead of letting the problems and daily grind wear us down. Thanks or posting it Buffie I'm incredibly lucky and I know it. I've got a marvellous family, 2 happy, healthy children and a wonderful hubby whom I love to bits. Missing him like crazy right now, but only 59 days until I get on that plane and we're reunited..............and that airport moment when he meets us off the plane will be something special My house has sold, and my amazing MIL has moved out of her house and is staying with relatives simply so that the children and I have somewhere to live that's affordable (errrmmm, free ) within a relatively easy commute from school and work. I've got some truly fabulous friends and now that I'm on countdown to leave I'm really making the effort to see people to say goodbye, tell them just how important they are to me and to issue invitations to NZ like confetti. So, OK, the sun's not shining here today, but that rain is watering the garden and helping the crops grow, and the sun will be back again very soon. Life's good, and the niggles and irritations will keep on coming back, but wow, I'm so lucky overall
