n2hec
Hooray... after thinking it was about to happen for the last 3 days... this morning at 11.15am I collected a small, brown, warm egg. It weighs 45g and looks quite perfect. We're so eggcited!! Polly has had very red wattles and comb for a few days. I checked her pelvic bones and they were ready, she was eating for England all last week and on Sunday afternoon made the loudest bok boking I've ever heard!!! This morning she disappeared into the eglu a couple of times - with the other 2 on guard at the door! - and on the second time came out again all very quiet and went to eat her pellets. I thought I'd check even though she hadn't made the predicted anouncement of an egg - and there it was. What a lovely suprise!
Snowy
Congratulations and well done to Polly! Extra treats today then! You can't beat the excitement of your first egg can you? (Hope you did the egg dance )
WitchHazel
How lovely! How are you going to eat it?
n2hec
Thanks for the congrats. I think I'll have it poached. Might wait until tomorrow as - I know it sounds stupid ... but I'm still amazed about the whole thing!
FruitandNutCake
That's great! I still go looking for eggs with the same excitement a week after my first eggs from two of my girls! I'm still awaiting Bonza's first egg- and she has been crouching for over a week. So I still go checking the boxes every few hours

Gamebird
Congratulations. I really is eggciting when they first start to lay. My ginger Ranger just goes into the nesting box, lays an egg and then comes out as if nothing has happened. She doesn't make a sound. Mind you, I make enough noise to make up for her
