Beautiful weather ...and FLIES!

Recommended Posts

I'm so glad we're not the only ones, OH and I were sat on the patio earlier commenting on how many flies there were. We were worried it was the compost heap, or the chooks, but hopefully it's a phenomena of the weather and once they're all hatched they'll disappear again. It's done wonders for our local bat population tho - dusk is VERY busy above our house

Thank you Duckmomma!

Wouldn't it be nice to think we will have an impact on the fly population with all our new flitraps.. think orders may have been rather high this weekend but perhaps not enough to make a dent just yet

...although perhaps if I can persuade everyone near my house to get one...

Now why didn't I think of that!!

The amount I have spent of fly prevention this week is ridiculous! horses fly repelent, fly rugs, flitraps for chickens ( I haven't even got yet) and flitraps for horses (that I can't ride due to shoulder injury)..

phew.. now there was I looking forward to the warmer weather

I ordered a 2 traps today after reading your posting. I told them about you too. I have not noticed more flies since I got my 4 hens last November, but I thought best to get ready for when I do sit out in the garden and I also don't want my neighbours complaining!

So if I put one of these in my garden - which I fully intend to, will all the flies from the neighbours gardens also get attracted by it? Or don't they have any and it is just me because of the dried chicken poo in the garden  ? The thing is I never have a single fly in my either my walk-in chicken or rabbit runs, just every where else. I've been blaming it on the footpath down the side of the garden and some of the dog walkers not clearing up after themselves, but am now not so sure. And I really don't want to see swarms of flies from other gardens bee-lining my flitrap..... it will resemble something from a horror film!

Having received my flitraps I commented to the manufacturer that the instructions were not very clear on the packaging, so he has produced a new leaflet to go with the product according to my comments/questions.

At least now I feel I have earned my two free flitraps for asking the fly question in the first place!

Thanks Roxanne

I received mine this week..complete with the additional instructions!!

Kaylis not sure if you mean the flys to get trapped or parcel to arrive.. I don't know about flys yet as only just got mine, but my delivery was very quick! Ordered on mid last week and received Monday..

Now just need the sunny weather back to try out!
