Popcorn
Will be good to know BB. I have real problems finding icecream that doesn't use battery eggs. This info isn't easy to come across.
spacedhopper
Will be good to know BB. I have real problems finding icecream that doesn't use battery eggs. This info isn't easy to come across. A lot of free range chickens are not kept in much better conditions than battery chickens. Still kept in too cramped conditions, and debeaked. Best go for dairy free ice cream, look on the vegan sites, they tell you where best to buy it from (obviously not mail order ). Also whole issue on dairy farming, but i wont go down that road. Mel (& Paul)
I eat Green and Blacks or my dad's home made (using our eggs ) The other option is to go for sorbet (dad's gin and tonic sorbet is YUMMY!!) It will be interesting to hear the result of your research Buffy, Good point about the free range chooks spacedhopper - is there a way of finding out about ethical free range - go for organic as well or another way? Popcorn
Thanks SHopper. I'm willing to try anything to help a worthy cause. I know free-range doesn't always mean conditions are better for many animals. One of my work colleagues has an aunty who runs a free range chicken farm in Hampshire. She says the freerange barn is too small for the amount of birds they have, and becasue they keep all the food and water inside, it's rare that any of the birds actually go outside. buffie
Right have 1 result. Ben and Jerry's in the UK and Europe is now Free Range, they demanded free range eggs so this is fantastic, this will feature along with others in the July newsletter. Their US ice cream is not free range though. Just to say that to change farming it's important to support free range production and it is considerably better than battery, really, but organic free range is ideal.
