bookippsandcrew
Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has found this? Even when the eglu is clean and there is food in his bowl my rabbit seems to manage to wee down the side of the bowl so it all collects underneath and once he's eaten his supper by morning it's often been replaced by droppings!! I got so fed up of trying to mop up wee everyday from under his bowl that I have given in and just filled the space with litter and put his bowl with food outside!! I wondered if it was because he was particullarly fussy about keeping his sleeping area clean and there is no claer divide for a littler tray area? Any ideas? Chicken on a mission
I used to get this when I had my rabbits. I ended up doing the same as you did and moved the bowls. The rabbits sill used the same area as a toilet and the problem was solved
The Dogmother
Not sure on your set up there, but I would suggest a litter tray for your bunny, put a layer of wood pellet litter (like Tesco one seen below) in it an dput the dirts from his food bowl in ther so that he gets the idea. If you get a chance to watch him, then every time he looks like doing a wee or poo, plonk him in the litter tray. Bunnies are very fastidious and it is most unusual for them to medd near their foor. The only experience that I have had is when my girls were teenage and hormonal, their litter training went to pot (so to speak), so depending on the age of your buck, he might need neutering if he hasn't already been done. If he still persists, try emailing my bunny expert, Karen Wren of http://www.rossrabbits.co.uk
Martin B
Our rabbits used to insist on pooing in thew bowls. Now they have food bowls which hang on the cage so they can't get in to poo!
