Imo
Haven't been on here for a while because i've just started a new job In a lovely little old fashioned cafe - keeps the pennies rolling in before I go off to Uni in September. Glad to see everyone on here seems to be doing OK. Despite being as polite as I could have been, some customers still seem to feel the need to be unnecessarily rude. I can take the odd bad tempered person, but today just seemed like one rude customer after another!! Perhaps it's the rotten weather we had over the bank holiday weekend, put everyone in a foul mood? Roll on the weekend when I can chill out with my chickens!!!!!
Ain't Nobody Here
Aw, sorry to hear about that . There's no excuse for rudeness in my opinion - you'll just have to be sweetness and light in return, knowing that you have the moral high ground. Good news about the job - sounds a nice place to work!
Couperman
Hello Imo, I am sorry you had to suffer rude people, but rude people like to bully and abuse. They generally pick on those much younger, better looking and more talented than themselves. I was told a good piece of advice many years ago....... 'Never, ever be rude to a Dentist or a Waitress', there are many good reasons to heed this advice The customer isn't always right Kev. Egluntyne
Ignore them Imo. People who feel the need to be rude to shop assistants and waitresses have dull and uninteresting lives and this type of behaviour makes them feel important and in control when in fact they are neither. Cheer yourself up by going to the Vivienne Westwood exhibition in Sheffield.
Jules.
Couperman I like your advice, very sound! I work in a customer facing job, & I sometimes get days like that. It's never just one customer, they all seem to get the bug & copy each other with their gripes. On the whole I really like my role, helping people is what I do best
Seagazer
I had a christmas job in Woolworths one year and every day a woman would come in to get a sandwich and a drink. She always came up to the till whilst talking on the phone and would just throw her money on the counter. She would never say a thing to me. I started off saying hello but towards the end gave up and just placed her change on the counter instead of into her hand. I can't stand people like that. We're always polite and say hello but obviously some people just have no manners. Don't let them get to you - they are just pig ignorant. (Sorry for abusing pigs - I don't mean it!). Lesley
Hopefully, it was just the weather.......perhaps they'll all be nicer today?
Ziggy
Isnt it odd how those things seem to take the nation? Like bad mood bug sweeping over the country for a few hours? I find it's usually noticeable in traffic... some days most people seem courteous and fine, giving way to other cars and so on... some days it seems everybody in the whole city suddenly decides to drive like abusive maniacs... and even on a short trip you get several such instances... there have been many times when I've said to OH while driving 'oh is this one of those days again when the highway code has been cancelled and no one told me?' I hope you get a better day today... people who are rude forget that you are providing a service that they are coming there to enjoy, and their need to appear superior or in control is really pathetic... Ana's flock
You could be right Imo, about blaming the weather. Lack of sunshine is the main cause of SAD, so why not when we've had a few good days followed by over a week of rain and misery... lack of vitamin D or something? Still no excuse to go on a power trip and treat people disrespectfully. It's not that hard to smile and make eye contact, even when talking on the phone. Some people! I had a few of them many years ago, when i worked at a supermarket for a while. Luckily the majority were really nice and friendly, and they made up for the few stuck up ones. I hope the *climate* (in every sense) improves soon and we all get lots of friendly customers/colleagues/drivers etc
