Cinnamon
Cleo has just come home from school & has a huge glob of gum on her brand new navy blue polo shirt. And when I say brand new I mean it - it was its first outing today! Any ideas how I can get it off?
ubereglu
Ew nice! Stain Devils works quite well and so does freezing it. It really depends on whether it's spread out or not etc.
redfrock
I've heard that an ice-cube does the trick - hold it on it and the gum should freeze and peel off
Cinnamon
Its spread, & its all in the weave of the Polo shirt too Its in the freezer now, & I will get a stain devil if that doesn't work. I hate gum.Its banned in school, but its still underr all the desks
ubereglu
I hate gum.Its banned in school, but its still underr all the desks Me too. It's just the same at our school too and if some teachers caught you chewing gum they'd give you a detention at lunchtime and make you s"Ooops, word censored!"e the underneath of the tables... Mrs Frugal
Eucalptus oil Sarah. Rub neat eucalyptus oil onto the gum and it will just wipe off. Bung the clothes in the machine and they'll be good as new. Works a treat!
Scooby
I've managed to get gum off trousers by covering with brown paper and ironing over it. (not sure why brown paper, but it worked!)
Cinnamon
Eucalptus oil Sarah. Oooo - top tip from Kate Where do I get that oil from though - Boots???

Mrs Frugal
Health food stores sell it as do chemists and some supermarkets. I bought some from Morrisons a while back. Boots should have some too .
Egluntyne
The freezer trick works quite well, Hit the blob with a hammer when quite frozen to smash it up and then pick it off .Eucalyptus oil gets the residual stain out.
Tessa the Duchess
If I was a dictator I would ban chewing gum, along with a lot of other things Tessa
Lesley
It's banned in Singapore!
Guest
any oil will do the trick - I've used cooking oil before but WD 40 would also be brilliant - I have a list of about a million uses for it and every one I've tried works. And yes - I give gum s"Ooops, word censored!"ing detentions, not to kids I catch chewing gum as they have that on the "expectations" card so they get three strikes before a school detention. But it is a favourite of mine for obnoxious kids - I can't be asked with detentions so if I make them gum s"Ooops, word censored!"e a couple of times they tend to avoid being brought back a third time. Cinnamon
The freezer trick didn't work, but I got some brilliant stuff called DESOLVE-IT form tesco.which got every last bit off, even the stuff right in the weave
