my friend at work had a younger sister who died last week of a heat attack aged 37, she had diabetes & did not look after it very well she was in renal failure in the end so it is a blessing but what a shock.

oh my what a young age, I am so sorry for your friend and her family.

just shows you how devastating diabetes can be, lots of youngsters rebel & try not to take their insulin & smoke just like Vicky did but it really isn't worth it

poor girl, same age as me, bit of a wake up call!

 

my SIL has diabetes and is a bit lax at looking after herself sometimes. She's in early 30s and has been in hospital a couple of times with ketone acidosis. She's mother of my gorgeous niece and we keep saying to her "what would Lucy do without her mummy!" but it doesn't sink in sometimes

That's no age at all is it? How sad for her family. One of our friends has diabetes and has been TERRIBLE at looking after himself. He had a wake up call recently luckily nothing like your poor friends sister, and thankfully he's taken notice.

May I just add, in case anyone is recently diagnosed, the prognosis for someone with Diabetes is usually to live a healthy, long, fulfilled life if they take care of themselves.

the funeral is tomorrow, so we are all very sad, I see lots of people with diabetes who if they look after themselves do very well, its not the death sentence it used to be but does require time & effort to keep fit & healthy
