Mesh for my chook house?

Recommended Posts

I am pretty sure now that we are going to build a walk in run with a cube inside.

My question is what sort/grade of mesh would you use for the outside and where is the best place to buy it.

My avatar was a photo I took last week in Norfolk on a free range farm, the eggs were wonderful.

Many thanks

Nicola

We've got 16gauge weldmesh up to a height of three feet, then from three feet up, chicken wire, which was half the price of weldmesh. I was told by our local poultry centre that it's only necessary to do the bottom half in weldmesh because of how high a fox can stand in order to chew through it.

Our rabbit run is done in a smiliar manner - 4ft of 16g and the remaining 3ft in 19g - although that was more to do with lack of availablility! The difference in cost though is

Mine came from Animal Kingdom and is 1"x1" 16gauge Weldmesh. Look on Ebay sometimes you can get some real bargains.

Tessa.

I used the same supplier as Tessa. It's really tough and I know it is foxproof as they tried to get through it and gave up!
