ruth1
Thought Ella my Salmon Faverolle wasnt quite her usual cheeky self yesterday. However she was reluctant to come out of the cube this moning so I lifted her and gave her a look over and noticed that she's got what I can only call a blister ( small circular raised patch of scales, not bleeding) on the sole of each foot, shes obviously feeling footsore. My fist thought was scaly leg but apart from these 2 blisters she looks ok. Im not sure what to do about it - advice please
Egluntyne
It sounds as if it could be the beginnings of a condition called Bumblefoot, which will need antibiotics as it is caused by a bacteria If the foot gets hot and very red, a trip to the vet is on the cards I'm afraid. Don't be tempted to pick at it as it could make matters worse. A gentle bathe in tepid mildly salty water will soothe it a bit. ruth1
Been to the vet and yes it is Bumblefoot so we have a course of antibiotics, for a girl who's very vocal she was really well behaved at the vet, so lets hope it clears up soon.
