4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Is it me, or am I mad.

 

Somedays, I feel really mean taking the 3 lovely eggs and leaving the girls with an empty box. I wonder whether they worry about their eggs after they have laid, bearing in mind like you all say they are very gentle and caring about moving the eggs.

 

Any ideas anyone?

I know exactly how you feel, I hate taking them after all the effort put into laying them... sometimes my basket of eggs is full to overflowing cos I cant bring myself to give any of the precious littlew things away or actually get rid of any in any way at all..... it's not just you... I marvel everyday at the warmth of the little brown sphere I collect and it takes me days to actually come to terms with the fact i have to do something with it...

I dont feel guilty, I would feel more guilty if I didnt eat them and let them waste etc.. I do say well done my lovely.. or good girl, etc etc..

oh we don't waste any..if we have a lot we give the girls scrambled eggs or french toast they love it...if they get some too I don't feel so bad....I have been proud to give some away too

I still feel a little funny taking the eggs, especially as Elsbeth gives me 'the look' when I take them!!

yes Cocoa is the one that gives me a look nowadays.. Sugar I think is too busy thinking.. phew I am glad thats out...

 

I had a softie on the poo tray earlier but they both laid perfect eggs also..

 

It seems to be an every now and then occurance.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago and all the replies indicated that the omleteers thought I was mad! Hmm, well, looks like I'm not alone after all!!

Having spent a small fortune on electric fencing to keep my girls safe from marauding foxes, no, I don't feel guilty when I take their eggs.

 

It's a two way thing going on - I keep them safe and give them a good life and they keep me amused and give me eggs.
