BeckyBoo
Hi there, bit of a longshot but I was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas for fixing my last batch of picallilli. I made a shed load today and for some strange reason it's runny. I measured it all etc, made slightly more than usual but that's never been a problem before. Any ideas how I can thicken it up? Unfortunately it's now cold, I let it go cold because sometimes it thickens a bit on standing but it didn't. It's a real shame too, not just cos there's lots, but because it's a really tasty batch too. Can't exactly sell it when you can pour it out of the jar though Any ideas welcome, otherwise I'll be eating the bloomin' stuff for the rest of time Mrs Bertie
Valkyrie
Can't help with regard to thickening, Mrs Bertie, but it might be something to do with the recipe. My mother-in-law's is always runny - OH loves it, but I like it when it is thick too.
peepie
try a bit of flour/cornflour (mix it with a little bit of water first so it doesn't go lumpy) - might make it a bit pale colour though and give it another good boil.
