Olly
As you lot are so knowledgeable ... I've got a work trip in a couple of weeks that's going to mean several hundred miles in the car, and I'd like to be able to link my iPod up to the radio, rather than take CDs. If I set up some playlists then I shouldn't have to fiddle with it while driving. Does anyone have one of these, are they easy to set up and is there one that you'd recommend? There are loads on Amazon and I can't work out which ones are best. I've got a newish iPod Nano by the way.
Fabergé
I have a Griffin I-trip which I find very good. You find a frequency on your radio without a station on, select the same frequency on the I-trip & bobs your mothers brother! It needs to plugged into the cigarette lighter socket so will also charge the Ipod at the same time. The fiddliest part is trying to find a clear frequency! You may find when you drive through a new area that you pick up local radio stations which interferes with the Ipod.
AMO
They are brill little gadgets - we got ours from I-pod World via the internet - sorry I don't have a link. Very easy to set up although you may have to retune from time to time. One tip though - keep the vloume down on the ipod itself or you get horrible feedback via the receiving stereo. Happy motoring! Paola
The one I brought is from the the carphone warehouse and it has a digital display and several frequencies. Another good feature is that you can charge it at the same time Sorry cannot remember who makes it
Geoid
The Gadget Show has a list here The cheapest is £11!
Olly
Thanks guys - that's really helpful! I knew you'd have some ideas. Someone at work has recommended Griffin, and then a friend I've been out with tonight has offered to lend me hers at the weekend so I can try it out and see if I like it. That links very helpful Fred, in fact Amazon have got some (not that one) for £8.95 although I don't know how good they are. I'll carry on researching, thanks for the tips! Tina C
Errrrmmmm....I don't have a radio in my car. (Its an old VW camper so I wouldn't hear it if I had one) Perhaps I need an iPod after all
Richard T
What's an iPod? . . . . . . . . It's a sort of portable gramaphone, but you don't need to carry your LPs, 45s and 78s with you because they can be stored on the device using a computing machine. I think the main advantage is that you never need to change the needle or stylus.

Olly
boo ... I just logged on, saw that this thread had gone to 2 pages and 19 messages, and thought 'great - some more recommendations'! Noooo ..... still, at least I should be grateful, you've kept the topic bumped up to the top of the list! Maybe someone else who's not a Luddite will come along
Tessa the Duchess
Don't get excited Olly, another Luddite here I also hadn't a clue what his gadget was. I also had trouble with a recent posting by ANH about some Orange card thingie and had to ask my son. He explained that it was a way of safeguarding the contacts on your mobile phone, in case you lost it My first thought was....why not just write down the contacts on a piece of paper and keep it safe? save yourself 3quid? but what do I know? Olly
s'ok - I'm enjoying this thread too ... I'm just slightly amazed at how few people seem to know about these. I am gadget girl - I love power tools, I have had an iPaq (electronic diary) for years, got Sat-Nav, digital camera, and I'm on my second iPod. I have to restrain myself from mad spending splurges in Maplins, I love gadgets so. But I do like to get value for money, hence asking the question on here. I think I'll have to look elsewhere for advice though!
