What does fox poo look like??!!

Recommended Posts

Hope someone can help with this? Just found a poo :( on my lawn and I'm a bit worried it might be from a fox. Problem is I have no idea what a fox poo looks like. This is a bit like cat poo (from a large cat!) but it seems a bit odd for a cat to do that. They normally like to dig about a bit!

I haven't seen any foxes here before but the 'offending poo' was right next to the chicken's section of the garden.

Any poo specialists out there???? :?

Following on (I'm sorry) from Stevie's post, fox poo also tends to have 'bits' in it from whatever they've eaten & not digested i.e., seeds, beetle bits, leaves etc.

If a fox is around he/she will use wee as their primary territory marker prior to poo. A fox's urine reeks - you can't miss it. It's a musty, powerful, catch-in-back-of-throat smell and you will never forget it.

Well you did ask!

Fox "scats" often have pips and seeds and bits of fur and bone evident in them.

They are black and tarry, with a little twist at one end.

Old ones are grey and dusty looking.

The fresh ones stink to high heaven, and you really don't want your children getting it on their shoes.

You may think that the forum has taken a turd for the worst, but it is vital to know what fox poo looks like. You will probably see the poo before you see the fox, as its first visit will be at night.

Once you have found a fox poo in your garden, you need to be on high alert 24/7, as it will constantly come back, day and night, and will eventually outwit you.

Aaah, so that's the mysterious thing I keep finding on my allotment! Thanks Egluntine! I also smell that overwhelming urine stink near my shed there too, so that solves that mystery. Actually, I'm happy to have foxes on my lottie cos they catch the rabbits who are eating my cabbages!
