look what i made!

too much free time rather than patience!

liz, have you tried different paper? i find that makes a huge difference when learning.

egluntine, i did debate whether to put it in craft, but origami isn't generally regarded as craft (don't get me started on flickr groups who've kicked me out because of this!) - i'm happy to move it if you think it's better suited in there?

I think it IS a craft. You need talent, imagination and clever fingers.

Your chicken is really sweet. (I'm hopeless at origami - one's got to have patience...).

The paper is lovely too - in my screen it comes up as a beautiful fiery red.

Have you got any more things you've made.

Once I had a Japanese friend who used to make these little cranes in all colours, then she put them together with some string, it make a gorgeous little wall hanging.

Thanks for showing us Gazpachodragon... by the way, how did you come up with that name? It does conjure some funny images for me...

ana, it's a lovely metallic foil. perfect for chicken making!

gazpachodragon came from soupdragon, which was my nickname at uni (i was always making soup to feed impoverished students), but when i used it on forums i realised that it's really common, so i changed the soup type!

here's a few things i've made, including my senbazuru (a thousand cranes strung up, like your friend made)

You are very talented in the folding paper business, I love the 1000 cranes, must've taken you ages  Weirdly I heard on the radio that NASA have asked the Japanese origami club to design an origami plane that they are going to drop from one of their space stations, back to earth, for no scientific reason, just for the helluva of it :) I believe it will be fitted with a teeny homing thingy so they can find it when it lands, hope it doesn't land in an ocean

thanks everyone - i'm not that good though, you should see some of the stuff people make!

i think it's not classed as a craft as it isn't a homecraft, but i have to say i'm feeling pretty priveliged it got moved to the craft section here!

oh, and snowyhowells, tell your kids to try this - works well enough for me, and isn't hard to fold. http://www.paperairplanes.co.uk/fish.php
