found in a bush being bothered by some dogs, i,ve done some research and think it looks like a quail, and a domestic type at that. maybe a courtnix? its definately a baby too.

 

 

 

 

if it is a quail i guess ill have to get him a quail friend. i read that quails and chickens cant be kept together.

 

he's eating and drinking too.

I don't know if its male or female but its not normally as simple as just getting them a mate.

yeah we thinkit must've escaped too. my sister has been looking after it for about a week and no one knows where it came from, she's asked around all poultry places nearby. it is good at flying though so i assumed it mustve come quite far. so she brought it to me to care for.

That is a quail....a very pretty one too. My sister has two - they are usually very skitish so well done for managing to catch it.

thanks for the kind offer hils, but we are moving in 2 - 3 weeks so i think ill find him a friend when we're down there. until then ill give him lots of hugs.

A nice diy mix for quail is plain finch seed mixed with chicken chick crumb. Plus the usual grit & treats & sand baths

okay will do! at the mo he's on chickecrumb and i've got him a cuttlefish bone because i read that's important.
