I've just looked this up and found some shareware software which can supposedly put video into the right format for watching on ipods. Has anyone done this and what would you recommend. I'm always a bit nervous about downloading software I'm not sure about.

Audacity will do this for you, but I don't know if it's free or not.

Are you sure Liz? They only seem to do audio not video stuff. I'm probably wrong though, my brain is a bit fuzzy this evening!

Never tried Audacity for iPods although it is a great tool. I use Super which will just about convert anything to anything! And is free to download. The only downside is the lack of support so you have to poke around a bit to get it to do what you want.

Video that I have on my computer is transferred to my I pod via I tunes. Dont know if you can put DVDs onto it though. Sorry

I'm not entirely sure, it's just a suggestion as I know that it can do this for music. If you're loading the actual disc on to your ipod won't it change it through itunes?

Nope, Itunes wont convert it and Audacity is just for music, but I would go for super.

This is interesting to me as I have just found out that there will be NO ENTERTAINMENT AT ALL on my flight next week.

I have a bog standard Nano in green which I bought last year - can I watch converted DVD's on that or do I need to upgrade to the flashy new expensive one?

Its the top one Fred,although I do prefer the look of the bottom one,so if that can play movies I might be tempted to upgrade

I use WM Converter - downloaded for free - pretty good and i now have every episode of earthworm jim on my ipod
