making me lazy!

The plastic roosting bars are fabulously non stick and don't need scrubbing every week as they don't get messy. The poo tray with Easibed in is still fresh even after three weeks!! I do poo pick daily but I feel i haven't had to clean out the eglu for weeks now!!

[Dave36]

Sounds really good did you buy the plastic roosting bars from omlet, and do they do them for the cube ?

[Blackrocksrock]

The plastic bars are fabulous and yes nothing seems to stick to them like the wooden ones. Yes you can get them for the cube

[Missus]

I have a question about the plastic roosting bars. Got mine today and they don't seem to fit the same as the wooden ones, eg the small one near the door does not lay flat but it's at an angle like a ramp????? Is this how it should be? It won't fit if I try to lay it flat, it seems too small

Anyone?

[Blackrocksrock]

Mine fit at an angle too. The large ones dont fit too well on mine

[Missus]

oh thank goodness for that! I thought I'd got it wrong. Looks a bit peculiar as it leaves a bigger gap between the two sets of bars than with the wooden ones. With the wooden ones laying flat you don't expect suddenly to have a ramp? Seems like the set is too small to me

I've asked Omlet this question so I'll post their reply on here

[SAB]

I too had noticed that nothing seems to stick to the plastic roosting bars - ours arrived in time for us merging our flock, but instead of having extra scrubbing to do, I have less - fantastic!

Oh, man, I knew I had mutant chickens -- I have to s"Ooops, word censored!"e poo off my plastic bars every 2 days, as they get quickly covered and the poo is quite stuck on after a couple of days. My gals don't seem to have the knack of dropping between the slats But I've taken to using a bird poo cleaner from the pet store (in amongst the parrot/budgy products) and it comes off super easy with just a spritz and a wipe, so still a rather easy clean after all. Easier than wood would be, for certain.

[Steph101]

I must get some of those; they sound great.

[jlo]

I have the plastic bars and they are great. I agree that the small one is at a bit of an angle but my wooden one was too so I didn't notice a problem there.

[AJuff]

I am so impressed I've ordered a new set for the green eglu too!!

[Chickvic]

They are soooo much better! I cleaned the girls out yesterday and to scrub and dry the plastic bars took me all of 2 minutes!

[Abbey Road Girl]

The plastic roosting bars are terrific. I admit I did have a hard time fitting them into my Cube. I was trying to put them in side by side from the back (to match the poo trays), when actually one goes in front and the other in the back.

Some basic instructions would saved me time and a bit of worry. But the product is great!

[Dinkychick]

i get mine on tuesday will let you know how we get on!

Off to scrub the wooden ones now......

[kissinuk]

To those people having trouble with the eglu front bars - have you checked they're the right way? If you look underneath one side is marked 'rear' (only applies to the front set, the rear set go either way). Just though I'd ask as mine fit perfect.

...."Oh, man, I knew I had mutant chickens -- I have to s"Ooops, word censored!"e poo off my plastic bars every 2 days, as they get quickly covered and the poo is quite stuck on after a couple of days."

I got distracted onto the USA Omlet and started watching a video clip of bloke cleaning his eglu...Nothing to learn in that except he did spray his bars and the poo tray with a cooking oil spray/mister. Said nothing sticks to it. He called it by the brand name the ways Americans do but I imagine any fine spray might do the job. My only hesitation was the oil smell might attract rats!!

(ps my new bars fit fine and I follow the sign for "rear")

[Tiggy]

yes you do need to get them the right way round, took me a while to figure out but they are so much better than the wooden ones - they are now resigned to the fire starter basket

[beach chick]

good to hear everyone's positive expereince - as I've just ordered 2 sets... slightly disappointed that delivery wont be til Aug 4, which is ages, but praprs it will all turn up earlier if I'm lucky.
