S & S
My 2 hens seem there fine usual happy selfs, but have had the odd runny poo since I have had them which is couple months, recently the runny poos are increasing and now the have slightly poo y knickers I give them bokashi bran (spelling?) mixed in with mash and have just got some citricidal which will put in there water tomorow. The poos are a normal coulor. How can i clean there bums other than cutting away the soiled feathers as i dont think i could do that safely is there anything i can use to spray on them or something I havent wormed them, perhaps i should and see if they improve. Any ideas from all you experts out there would be much appreciated
Egluntyne
Are they eating a lot of vegetation or getting a lot of treats? That can give them the squits. If they have been free ranging they could have picked up worms, so a course of Flubenvet might be a good idea. I use warm water with a few drops of Ecover washing up liquid and an old cloth to clean their botties. I just get them into a half nelson and give them a good old fashioned wash. moomin
If they have poo-ey knickers you should maybe check for lice? The breeder I got mine from said this could be a sign - something to do with the lice eggs building up round the vent area
S & S
Thanks, They dont get many treats and i have cut them out to see if it helps, They dont do much free ranging as they have quite a big run, they were on the grass but now weve moved them onto soil with a thin layer of easibed so they are not eating lots of grass or anything. There poos (sorry to be so graphic) are more like cow pats then anything!!!
