Had to laugh....

Recommended Posts

I went into our local garden centre to get some food for our guinea pigs and they had chickens in there again. The other lot they had all sold. They had some labelled as follows:-

Pecan Bantums

Meran chickens

I think they mean Pekin Bantams and Maran chickens?? I couldn't resist but to correct them while I was at the till, bet they loved me :lol: I did say Pecan was a kind of nut!!

Now you'll all tell me there is such a thing!!

Nope, they are rounded and fluff-tastic!

I've always had two pekins in my flock and they are great fun - not so good at the egg thing as they far prefer to be broody (and make great mums), but they have such brilliant personalities. My Lily is a gobby little madam, rather like a feathered version of Pat Butcher... and as for Lavinia.... She chases me around the garden and shouts at me if I ignore her

Great! :D

That's just what drew me to that breed in the first place, little balls of fluff running around the garden! I heard they had great personalities and I wanted them for that, more as pets that becoming eco and self-sufficeint

Anyhow I should be getting my liitle balls of fluff very soon some time in August, when I get around to ordering my eglu and the chooks, which is next on the list after a holiday in the Lake District!

We have two balls of fluff,

Scurry is a right little madam, came strolling into the living room the other day..........that is thro' the conservatory & kitchen....I didn't know wether to be cross or to laugh! but loves a cuddle, often seen tucked under the arm of LMW.

As for Snowy she is a scatty, dippy little chook, hopeless and always last. She ends up flying at six inches above ground level to keep up.Often seen standing in the middle of our tiny lawn looking completely baffled 'cause the other two chickens have disappeared into the flower beds.
