Guest
I'm not having a good month on Ebay. First I got my first neg from a total NUMPTY who wanted me to post expensive tickets to an unconfirmed address (paid with someone elses paypal account too as had "forgot" her own password). Next I bought some shoes which are damaged but were listed as worn twice in excellent condition, the seller has now agreed a refund but wants an "invoice" from me first??? I told her I can put through a paypal claim as that will give her a form of invoice. Then there was a dress I bought, the listing says it's in excellent condition and has been dry cleaned. HMMM. It has been pressed so hard that the seams show through the fabric (you know what I mean the bit under), dry cleaners do NOT press in that way. Also the lining is longer than the skirt - indicating that the skirt has been shrunk. TBH I think its been washed and ironed but I never mentioned that to the seller. She starts by telling me that I shouldn't expect perfection when I buy secondhand. I tell her no I just expect as described and I email her pictures. She offers me a refund of just the cost, seemingly as a gesture of "goodwill" "I do believe that the item is as described, it is a used item plus there were pictures on the listing so you could see exactly what you were buying. I do not offer refunds (this is stated in the actual ebay listing) but as you seemed unhappy I was willing to have it returned to me and for me to give you a refund." None of the damage was shown in the listing. I sent it back and again stated I wanted the postage costs too, especially as having checked what they were I realised she charged me for Special Delivery but sent it Recorded! I also started a paypal claim as I was getting annoyed with her tone, then I got this mail from her "I will not be refunding the postage costs as I believe that you saw what you were buying. But I state again I will refund the purchase price of the dress. As I have repeatedly said you I am very sorry that you are unhappy. I will say to you again I will offer you a refund of the purchase price of the dress, I do not know what else I can do. I really would like you to open a dispute claim as I now feel that you are being abusive and I beginning to feel harrassed by you. Please contact me only to give me the royal mail reference number" I escalated this to a paypal claim - the dispute centre now shows that they phoned her on 24th July but they still havn't made a decision - how hard is it after contacting her??? Finally I bought another dress on 23rd June, paid 24th june, chased non delivery on 15th july and was told it would be posted tomorrow, chased delivery again on 22nd July and have had no response so I've started ANOTHER claim with PayPal. What is going on here???? After YEARS and hundreds of purchases I suddenly have 2 claims on the go and am considering a third. It's very annoying. Rona
Can't offer any advice as you have far more ebay experience that I have but can only offer sympathy and hope you soon get it sorted in your favour.
Cooks
Paypal do take a while, but normally sort things quite well in the end. Although a bug bear I have with them is Royal Mail added one digit to my postcode and I tried and tried to edit my address, I had a huge problem, with it accepting it
Shirl
I have a Paypal claim outstanding too. I didn't get the goods after first being told the seller had a problem with her pc and then saying she'd posted them. I started a claim with and she gave a Royal Mail ref number which is totally ficticious. It started with my postcode and then my housenumber followed by a couple of other digits. I've posted enough to know ths is not a RM tracking code. Paypal have said they'll look into it and get back to me by the 11th August! Why? She hasn't posted and they expect proof of delivery which she hasn't got because as far as I can see she doesn't even have proof of posting. I'm well cheesed off. I wish there was another proper alternative becaue I have some things I want to sell but I just don't want to do it on Ebay.
Guest
I know its dead annoying sometimes. I just cant believe PayPal are so slow, if they have spoken to my seller then why does it take days to make a decision? Oh and not (P_P!) is not a good abbreviation on this forum! Shirl
Oh and not (P_P!) is not a good abbreviation on this forum! I know I changed it several times because I automatically abreviate it. I obviously missed that one.
Lesley
I'm well cheesed off. I wish there was another proper alternative becaue I have some things I want to sell but I just don't want to do it on Ebay. There are other auction sites - I saw them on a TV programme and realised that they weren't Ebay.
Guest
I've tried other auction sites in the past with limited sucess. Trouble racks up with PayPal too - they won't let you list a lot of items with anything but PayPal now which is a pain in the proverbial. I would happily give buyers my account number and sort code and let them pay directly into my account - fee free! When you sell the high priced items you get clobbered every which way and it just EATS up your profits. That's why a lot of people are bumping postage left right and centre. cammy73
My other half used to buy and sell loads on e bay, but after some bad buyers/sellers, he's cut right back, he's got a rating of over 400 and it was 100%, some woman gave him negative feedback after she gave us the wrong address!!! E bay isn't the same as it used to be.. Sharon x
Shirl
Well I got an email this morning to say Paypal have found in my favour and I have got 88 pence back because that's all the seller has in her account. Fortunately the books only cost about £4 or so but it isn't really the point
Guest
I emailed the seller again last night, really just to annoy her as I didn't apprciate her comments that I was harassing her. I pointed out that the item is waiting for her at the post office (delivery attempted 24th) and that PayPal are awaiting her response. I told her I'd played fair and it's about time she did the same. She has totally maintained that despite her description saying the item was in good condition you should expect faults when buying secondhand and that she would be doing me a favour offering a refund. Once this is resolved I will leave appropriate feedback which will do her no favours at all as she only has 87 feedbacks so a neg will pull her percentage down considerably. Shirl
Am I right in thinking that Paypal will only give both of us refunds of the cost of goods not including postage? If so she probably knows that so thinks she has nothing to lose.
Cooks
I believe paypal dont refund postage costs, I might be wrong though
Guest
You say how much you are claiming, I've claimed the postage as it was a bit of a rip off anyway, being charged for Special Delivery and it being sent Recorded.

That is soooooo taking the mike I think that I have been lucky (touch wood!) so far with my ebay experiences.
Guest
She has gone all quiet again. I emailed her last night asking her to play fair and pointing out that the dress has been waiting for her at the delivery office since last Friday. I see from the tracking she still hasn't picked it up. Of course now its the numpties not paying for the tickets I have in envelopes ready to send that are driving me nuts!
