chocchick
There were one or two comments about a northern get-together earlier, so 1) Who would be interested? 2) Where? 3) When? Based on where I live I would happily meet in the Peak district/Derbyshire, or even Cheshire at a push as me and OH have family nearby. spacedhopper
Possibly depending on location/date etc..

chocchick
Possibly depending on location/date etc.. I was hoping to get some idea of when would be a good time, and where would be a good location. Louise would Cheshire/Derbyshire be too far? I had in mind somewhere like the Otter and Owl sanctuary in Derbyshire, or Tatton park in Cheshire. A family attraction, preferably free/cheap to get into like Burghley. Suggestions welcome Would Summer (July/August) mean that there are too many other things to do (like other omlet meets), or make it more likely for people to turn up as holiday time and better weather? Sounds like a great idea to me Both your suggestions above are a great idea, as for a date, July and Aug look a bit too packed already in my diary.... weather can still be good in September, although I do understand the holiday problem. The Dogmother
We'll go to anything within a reasonable distance (dates depending). How about Chatsworth House in Derbyshire? It's NT, so those with membership will get in free, and I think that you can have a party in the grounds anyway. Anne (Myles) knows it. They have chickens..... PurpleHen
They have chickens..... Well then - how can we refuse
Mel (& Paul)
I think that may be a bit too far for me - even if they DO have chickens

Cate in NZ
I can't promise to make a Northern meeting, but I'd very much like to, so depending on date and location I'd certainly seriously consider it. My Mum's in North Manchester, and little sis is in Yorkshire, so I'd be hoping to combine an Omlet meet with a family get-together
spacedhopper
Chatsworth House would be good for me, understandable though if its not suitable for others, probably late August/early September would be best with people off on their jollies . chocchick
Yeah, Chatworth would be good as not too far and I've never seen the chickens Was pretty when we drove through, and I've been to the farm shop recently. I will look into it.....
Louise
I'll check the locations ideally I would like something I can go there and back in a day That would mean 3-4 hours driving each way max

Funny (in a strange and ultimately sad way) you should mention chickens and chatsworth, but the last time i was there some woman drove over a chicken in her car, feathers everywhere, i was traumatised for weeks after, strangely so was the woman who just stood there not knowing what to do really, but her mum went off to fetch somebody who worked there, he just came and picked the chicken up and took it away, probably to get rid of it in a humane way (yeah right, just animals to them). But i like the sheep at Chatsworth, theyre fab, but there is a lot of sheep pooh everywhere, you have to be careful where you sit.
myles
Ok, being local to chatsworth and the otter place (10 mins each away). Chatsworth is not NT, but owned instead by the Chatsworth House Trust. The Parkland is free, but you have to pay for the House, Gardens, Farmyard and Adventure Playground. Last time I went to the Otter Place, it was pants to say the least. Your welcome to come to our house, we have a nice area of land attached to our house, with chickens, and it is right in the heart of the peak district so is easy to get to from both the M6 (1 hour) and M1 (45 mins). We could go for an organised walk from here or just sit and chat... We would also happily travel more northerly for our scottish comrades. Trish
Depnding on dates I could be free for a northern meet up, thanks for suggesting it
Karen & co.
Depending on dates, we're only an hour or so from Chatsworth, ad my sis lives in Wetton, a tiny village reasonably close, karen x
sarahjm
I'd definately be up for a northern meet-up. Tatton Park would be good for me but I'm sure I could make it to Chatsworth too, I have some family in Derby so i could plan in a visit with them at the same time. Any time would be fine for me, we've not got summer holiday plans - boo, hiss!

I like the otter place
Louise
I've had a good look at the map and checked on route finder and I think it is going to be too far to go there and back in a day You should go ahead and organise and I can always see nearer to the event if I feel up to the travelling My problem is I don't live very near an airport or a train station so I have no real option but driving and five hours each way is too much for one day
SusannenoZ
Count me in i have some hols booked but would love to be therer depending on date. I live in staffordshire, so derbyshire or cheshire would be good for me!
Guest
What we need to do is set a date NOW, so more of us have a chance to arrange to come!
sarahjm
How about 9th September, it's a couple of weeks after the August bank holiday so shouldn't be too caught up with summer / school hols and people being away etc...? The Chatsworth area seems most popular so far, any other suggestions? Who's on the list so far? 1 - Sarah, Chorley Lancs.... 2 - Claret (plus Phil and Rosie), we could manage Chatsworth and have been meaning to go there anyway. 3 - Egluntine 4 - Karen, Mark and family S xx Edit by Claret - let me know if any more are coming and I can add them to the list
Egluntyne
Count me in if it is local to Sheffield ( ie within 50 miles, any direction).
