oatley
These are my newest brood - mum is a golden partridge pekin bantam called Audrey. This is her second brood this season. She lets us touch her and hold the chicks without any complaints - as long as no other chickens come near she is really quite happy! There are 7 chicks altogether. Only the eighth egg failed to hatch - a great result I think? This is the first to hatch, and actually the only one who is truly Audrey's chick - Her dad is Elvis, so if she turns out to be a girl we will call her Priscilla. Right now she just reminds me of the flumps - so we are calling her Flumpy. She is a Golden Partridge Pekin bantam. This is a much bigger chick - a Welsummer. She is one of the only ones that we have an idea about gender because Welsummers are different from the very start and she is looking like she is a girl. She is twice the size of the bantam babies. This is lucky (at the rear). This is another Partridge Pekin, from our other pullet Margaret & our lovely boy Elvis. Lucky was the seventh chick to hatch and needed a little help getting out. This is the welsummer chick again along with "Silky" a light sussex chick. This one seems to have ADHD - it is completely into everything and hyperactive. These are the two lavender pekins - very cute! And this is the white pekin (the other white pekin failed to hatch). and just in case you didn't get your full fix of chick photos - here are two more of the family together..... . W have three more due to hatch in two weeks time. They will all be golden partridge pekins. As a result - we have ordered an eglu to compliment our existing cube.
