Cinnamon
Does anyone know when they are due to arrive? My eldest did a few a year early & is itching to know how she did,but the school didn't tell us when the results are due
Jules.
i'd say next Thursday, they are usually one week after the a level results.

Rhapsody
No point getting stressed. All done and marked now. My Eldest will be shovelling horse doings by hand all winter if he has messed up.
Ms Marple
We are stressed up here too!! 21st can't come quick enough in some respects - yet it also means back to school in a week! YS has had a few bad dreams about it already He has not had an easy ride though school following in OS's footsteps who just never seemed to put a foot wrong anywhere academically nor sportingly. As an only child myself I never had that pressure and it is certainly not something we have harped on about. Nevertheless it seems to be there anyway. YS is my 'precious one' in a way as we nearly lost him to a brain tumour when he was 8 so in many ways I am just happy to still have him here and well. He doesn't see it like that though which I do understand. I have told him he has to pass chemistry - as I can't have a son of a chemist not passing! Oh that must have been so hard for you when your son was ill. Good to know he has recovered. My middle child followed a clever older child and has had to put up with a load of rubbish from some of the family (extended). I always tell him we can't all be the same. When daughter went to uni he thought it would be good to go as well, but, after being in 6th form for a few months dropped out and is now an apprentice air conditioning engineer and it suits him just fine. Good luck to everyone waiting for results
ubereglu
Yep, next week. I have to go in to see how I did in my accelerated Maths and Science exams.
Cate in NZ
We'd actually forgotten about them and I had no idea when they were due . So, next thursday evening we'll need to be standing by the old inbox then, waiting for that email to arrive Seb's working on 6 more IGCSEs now, poor lad, and with the work he's doing at school here it's almost like sitting those exams at home was in a different lifetime. Very strange
chili pepper
glad this thread came up. We were wondering that too. Like Cinnamon my son has done his French GCSE early and we were not sure when the results were due. The problem is he will be on holiday with his dad next week, not sure if they will release them to me though?
Ms Marple
Usually you need to have set up some form of authorisation to collect the result on behalf of your child. If no-one turns up then they are put in the post. It may be that if you contact your son's school you could still set this up before next Thursday. Need to be quick though. Guest
i think you need a letter from your son giving you permission. But you may not wish to queue up with all those 16 year olds! I think the results will arrive in the post on Friday anyway.
chili pepper
Thanks, I think I'll just wait for the post on Friday then, he will be back on Friday anyway and then he can open them himself ( if I can wait for him to get home!!)
Egluntyne
[My middle child followed a clever older child and has had to put up with a load of rubbish from some of the family (extended). I always tell him we can't all be the same. When daughter went to uni he thought it would be good to go as well, but, after being in 6th form for a few months dropped out and is now an apprentice air conditioning engineer and it suits him just fine. We had similar...2 older siblings studying law. Youngest was having none of it. Despite very respectable GCSE's....a mixture of A's, B's and C's, which were a miracle in themselves as he hadn't opened a book in earnest for 5 years. , he declined to stay on at school and is doing an apprenticeship in plumbing, having successfully passed the first stage of a 4 year course. Two of his friends who stayed on gave up by October half term, and one more after AS's. Now two of his friends have done really well and are going to the universities of their choice, having got the grades they needed, but several others didn't and are having to go through clearing etc. I can't tell you what a relief it has been to us not to have to worry about this. And ads he points out, he will not have £15k of debt round his neck and will be capable of earning a decent living in 2 years time. Can't argue with that. I wouldn't stop any youngster taking up a trade instead of persuing the academic route tbh.
Shirl
I'm inclined to agree that the clever child is the one that doesn't go to Uni and saddle his/herself with a mountain of debt.
Cate in NZ
I'm inclined to agree that the clever child is the one that doesn't go to Uni and saddle his/herself with a mountain of debt. I agree entirely . I think it's a bit sad really though, I was lucky enough to be able to go to uni and take a pretty useless degree in English and history, and I learned far more about growing up, being independent and so on than I ever did academically, but that was 20+ years ago when all tuition was free and grants were available to help with living expenses. I graduated with no debt and a whole heap of life experience that I feel guilty about denying my children . But these days some of the debt that young people emerge with is obscene.....how are they ever going to be able to afford to pay it back, as well as build a good life for themselves, including buying their own homes, cars and possibly having children unless they become high wage earners or have very wealthy parents If either of my children want to pursue careers that need a degree then I shall support them every inch of the way. However, I've already made it clear that we can't afford to fund a Mickey Mouse degree There are a lot of degrees out there that don't actually equip young people to work in the industry that they want, but sound attractive and interesting, and create great revenue for the universities offering them . I think it's a bit the same over her though as well. Massey University in Palmerston North has just introduced a new degree in magic.....what the heck do you do with a 2:2 in magic
Egluntyne
what the heck do you do with a 2:2 in magic If is was available in the UK perhaps the graduate could make his or her debt disappear. I wonder what the most bizarre degree course available in the UK might be ?
