smudgley
My daughter really wants a duckling We have kept a muscovy in the past & also had runners. We have a large area which is all fenced & with the addition of a small pond & a house, it would be ideal for a couple of ducks. We all like little call ducks, they seem pretty & friendly from what I understand, but a few people have warned us about the noise. Are they really noisy? We have loads of gardens backing onto ours and that's a lot of neighbours to upset, but we've got chickens & never had any problems. Any advice / comments appreciated. tara
If you are after call girls there only really noisy when they are excited ie if l go and get in there pen or if they have not seen me for a time then they want to tell every one. When they are noisy they are loud but there is also plenty of time there quiet as well. But there no louder then the average dog barking or lawn mowers going of or cars being started. If any one ever said any thing then id lock them up until l got up in the morning but on the hole l find there ok.They have a lot of personality and are cute to watch.Boys are quieter so if your not worried about eggs l bet there would be lots of people offering you boys very cheaply. gooner.girl
My call duck drakes are quiet but i have heard the girls can be noisy. Khaki campbells are a nice breed - maybe not quite as pretty but my girls are quiet and lay me an egg most days.
