AJuff
Over dinner this evening my 10yr old tells me she'll be keeping hens when she has her own place after university. (Another 8yrs or so). She has asked whether I can keep my spare purple eglu which I am planning to sell when my cube arrives. I could wrap and store it in the eaves in the garage but it seems such a waste when it could be used. Also how much will eglus be when she needs one? Any thoughts? I didn't really know what to say. Angels4
If it were me. I would tell her it would be free, and offer to get her an Eglu for a house warming or you could sell the Eglu and tell her you will put it in a savings for use to purchase one when the time is right. I don't really see them coming down in price though.
Looney
Well, you could explain that by the time she will be keeping chickens (very cool daughter you have by the way ) there is bound to be a super-duper state of the art version of the eglu available and she may not want the old, boring one.......so you could say you will give her £x from the sale of your eglu to put towards it. [Or just keep yours in the garage!!! ]
Jen&Rog
Hee hee, I don't think when I was 10 I'd ever have imagined going to University and making plans for the future, what a clever daughter you have! I reckon her thoughts will turn from chickens to other things when she graduates at 21-ish. Your Eglu may well be gathering dust for more than 10 yrs, by which time who knows what Omlet will have invented!
