Mumpty
It certainy isn't, We were in London yesterday buying my nearly 18 year old daughter's birthday present. She's totally independent now, driving and all. But she still asked if I'd go shopping with her, and it wasn't because of my credit card, she has her own money. She's still my little girl and always will be.
alexgirl73
My sympathies I know exactly how you are feeling as my eldest daughter started secondary today. It was so strange to see her in the blazer and tie, when I'm so used to seeing her in the primary sweatshirt. And she had her hair cut yesterday. Looks so grown up I want my baby back!!!! Egluntyne
It is a big step. I had a secret arrangement with a friend whose son started secondary school yesterday. They let him go to the bus stop by himself. Said bus stop is outside the house next door. I was sweeping my front path like a maniac at around 8.30am yesterday, observing clandestinely to see that he got on the bus OK. I was able to report that he did. little chickadee
My daughter started Middle School today (aged 9) and has to catch a bus into the nearest town. She wanted Dad to go with her to the bus today but he was the only grown up, so I guess it's not cool! They get dropped off on the grass verge of a really busy road after school, so I'm not looking forward to that. Someone got hit by a car last year Hope she has a great day at school - it's really weird not meeting the other parents and not seeing the teachers every day. DD1 used to get the school bus everyday so I never got to know anybody However that all changed when DD2 started school last Sept (she is not entitled to get the school bus, long story ), its great DS starts nursery tomorrow I know I feel like this now but i am sure to blubber tomorrow when I drop him off
Hen Watch
My daughter went off to "big" school in her blazer and tie today looking very grown up. Luckily the school is 500 yards down the road so no problem with her going alone. She's so excited about the new school. What with 2 full induction days, tours around the school, visiting for trips when in year 6, she's been really well prepared for this. Wasn't like that in my day, first I saw of High School was the day I walked in the door. I can't wait until she comes back to tell all. It seemed funny just having 2 children to take to Primary School this morning instead of 3. Felt like I'd left one behind somewhere. Feels like another chapter in my children's life is beginning.......

jlo
DD started her secondary school yesterday and has declared it "awesome." Long may that last! She is lucky in that ES is two years ahead of her so she has some idea of how things work. She has just come in to tell me that a girl in her class has three chooks and a green eglu which is even more "awesome" than her teacher
Sunshine
It was my little sisters first day at Secondary school yesterday and she seems to be having a great time. I'm sure she will have ups and downs like i did when in school. I think she also likes that i have been through secondary school and my brother has just gone into year 12 so we know what its like and so have told her about our experiences. I definately don't remember being as excited as she is when i first started.
rusky123
It was my 7 year old grandaughters first day in Junior school Tuesday, different school site, she looked so little and scared even though she is tall and very independant for her age. She loved it. I live across road from an infant school, so many Mums came out crying!. I was one of those unatural mothers who clicked her heels together when the last one was in school full time. fionne
I can't believe where the years have gone!! My baby bear, just 18 is off to Sheffield Hallam Uni in 15 days (we live in the New Forest!!). I'm already sleeping badly. Snowy
Another first here - my oldest starts college Monday. I don't know who is more excited, me or him! I just know that when he gets home, I'll want to know all the details of his day, but all I will get is "can't remember what we did. Grunt"
rusky123
I love it when they act all independant and self sufficient, but still want their Mum , even for a sneaky cuddle .
