RIP Hazel

Recommended Posts

I have just had my little hen, Hazel, (who I thought was ok after her recent illness) put to sleep at the vets. I was away last night and when I got home today she was all puffed up and breathing very heavily. When I picked her up she was all swollen up, could hardly walk and had a nasty discharge coming from her vent.

The vet saw her straight away and agreed with me that it was time to let her go. So, she is at peace now and I'll get her ashes back in a week or so to scatter in the garden. I'm crying my eyes out at the moment as hubby is away too (no-one to cuddle) and I feel guilty that she may have been poorly since I left yesterday morning.

Here are a couple of pictures of her :

And here she is in April all fully feathered and being nosey :

She was a cheeky, bossy little madam and I will miss her terribly.

Oh I am sorry  have an e hug (not as good as the real thing but the best I can do)

You have done the best by her by the sound of things. Do not feel guilty, it sounds like it was her time and you have done what you could, try and take comfort from that.

She looks beautiful on those pics. Looking very cheeky on the 2nd one. Well done you for giving her a good life.

Lots of love and thinking of you at this time
