Eggstatic!
I know that the gingernut rangers and the Miss Pepperpots both lay brown eggs but was just wondering if the gingernuts are a bit speckledy? My Miss Pepperpot has been laying every other day and we have had had two consecutive days with her for definite, her legs are a pale brown, but when i got home from work yesterday there was an egg which was a bit deeper brown with darker speckles on it, it was also a couple of grams smaller too (44g), could this have been one of the gingernuts first eggs or would it still be the pepperpots?(today the pepperpot has laid a pale brown egg as normal weighing 50g)
Egluntyne
I'm guessing it will be the gingernut's egg. My gingernut girls eggs are a little darker and smaller than the eggs laid by the pepperpots.

Purplemaniacs
Our gingernut lays smaller eggs than the pepperpot and they are have lots of speckles. The pepperpot's eggs are slighlty darker brown too. Chrissie

Eggstatic!
Just wanted to update my post. After finding the two eggs in the eglu this morning, my pepperpot laid an egg this afternoon, am i then to assume that all three of my girlies are laying? Angels4
I would think the possibilities are all three are laying. Lucky you.
Goosey Lucy
Hi, Yes! Congratulations! So long as you know there were no eggs in tthe nestbox when they went to roost last night, I would say that all 3 of your ladies are now laying. It may take a little while for you to have 3 egg days every day though so don't be too disappointed if they have an occasional day off. However with regard to the colour... My gingernut lays a light brown egg. One pepperpot lays a large (70g-75g) pale egg, the other one lays a smaller (60g-65g) egg which is a lovely brown with speckles. Sometimes the speckles arre only a few, sometimes they cover at least half of the egg. They all taste wonderful though!
