******* Fireworks!

Recommended Posts

Can't believe it, fireworks have been going off for the past 45 minutes. They are such cheapskates they are letting them off every 3-4 minutes to make them last longer. I'm so worried about my chickies, I've only had them two weeks. They'll never lay an egg at this rate:) Is there anything I can do for them?

well, last bonfire night it was like the blitz round here but the chickens didn't make a sound, they were fine. If they're tucked up in their coop/eglu they'll be fine. Have you put an ear to the eglu to see if you can hear them? I'll bet they're sound aslepp :D

The door is closed prompt after they go to bed (currently 7:50!). I went to check on them and there's not a peep out of them (they barely make a noise at the moment at any time), does that mean all is OK? I'd feel a lot better if it did. Anyway, as I say, they were cheapskates, and it's been quiet for 10 mins so hopefully that's the end of it. Bl**dy fireworks, should be banned!

Don't worry. I was paranoid last year and became really worried every time the fireworks went off. As Poet said, the hens don't generally bother about them. Mine didn't make a noise. They were disturbed more by me when I kept opening up the cube to check that they were alright.

Maybe I'm a worrier, but I brought the girl in last bonfire night. They spent the night in pet carrier boxes on the kitchen floor :D

And when we were away over new year I left strict instructions with my sister to lift the girls out of the cube and place them inside the house again. She wasn't impressed

Many thanks for this post and the informative replys. I was going to ask the same question,as bonfire night was worrying me :anxious: , I was resigned to bringing the girls in, however it would seem that they will be fine out in thier Egloo. Hopefully the fireworks wont last too long anyway. :D

I think I'm not going to worry to much now. It was a fairly windy day up here today, and whilst I was feeding the hens their daily mealy worm treats, our new canvas roof banged really loudly in the wind, so much so it scared the living daylights out of me, but the girls didn't even blink. As long as they are shut safely in their eglu once the fireworks start, I'm going to try to not to worry.
