Hubby's running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of BHWT

Recommended Posts

Richard, my mild mannered husband, is running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of the Battery Hens Welfare Trust on 12 October in London.

I know I'm not terribly well known on here so this is terribly shameless but I know the BHWT is a charity close to many of your hearts. If you feel you would like to sponsor him and donate to BHWT visit http://www.justgiving.com/richardvose.

Please wish him luck (and me as I have to live with him for the next month or so!) and, if you feel so inclined, do sponsor him. Absolutely no obligation of course.

Many thanks

Richard & Kate

Just a note to wish Richard luck in his "half". I'm doing one on the 5th October & I hope Richard's training is going better than mine :!: My long runs have become long lies :!: Well not always. Keep up the training, Richard , it will soon be over. Best wishes for the day. Please post let us know how you got on :) Allison

Hello me again

Richard completed a 10k organised run round Chiswick this morning coming in after an hour. He says this was a "bit off" but I think he did rather well considering it was warm, fumey and the organisers hadn't laid on any water en route :?

And we're over £400! Thanks everyone

Please send good luck vibes to Richard and the rest of the BHWT runners for this Sunday.

He was hoping for under 2 hours but he's managed to pick up a foot injury so maybe not. However, he's is completely determined to get round and I think he (and I!) will be really glad when it's all done and dusted!

He's managed to raise over £500 so thanks everyone for your generousity

Hi everyone, sorry for not replying sooner - been very busy at work and not had a moment.

Anyway, yes he it! 2 hours 17 minutes and 49 seconds - he wasn't happy with that but given his foot injury and the 23 degree heat in London, I think he did jolly well! He also beat his time from the Reading Half Marathon so all good.

He raised over £567 in the end which, together with the other BHWT runners sponsorship money, will apparently help rescue an extra 444 hens on each collection. Result!!

Big big big thank you to everyone who sponsored him.

Here's some pictures:

Looking fresh but only been going a mile:

Beginning to feel it at 6 miles:

Waving for the camera!

Just crossed the finishing line and totally exhausted:

Posing with fetching t-shirt and medal (the fact it was taken by the medical tent is pure coincidence!):

ANH - fingers crossed for you for April, go for it!
