Bunty is still tiny, but should be the size of the lavander araucana when she's full grown She is very friendly. If you're ever down this way, then give me a shout and we can arrange for you to pop round and see them all.
alih
I would LOVE to! Will bear it in mind when next down your way. I was in Devon in the spring and wittering as usual about chickens to a lady I didn't know who said she had some blue egg chicks about to hatch and would I like some. My husband will never know how close he came to me arriving back with a box full of chicks!
The Dogmother
My husband will never know how close he came to me arriving back with a box full of chicks! It's so tempting, isn't it? I went to get some supplies on Saturday from a local outlet and they had loads and loads of baby table birds... gorgeous little chickies in one of the loose boxes. alih
It is tempting and left to my own devices I would have a garden full of chickens with no room for children or dog. Tonight is my evening for "conversion to cube persuasion mission".... the financial aspects seem to be the stumbling block as on the face of it cubes are sooooo dear. But have said it can be birthday and Xmas for next few years which may clinch it!

The Dogmother
Gee, thanks Pamster. They took corn out of my hand for the first time today - yesterday, they weren't even sure that corn was a treat... they'll soon learn off my load of gannets though. TAJ
They look great - and hopefully when I come on your advance course (at last!) I will see them. Bunty looks as though she will be a real character - they says hens pick you - how were they to know you only wanted 3? Tracy
The Dogmother
they says hens pick you - how were they to know you only wanted 3? Tracy Just like dogs then Bunty is a real sweety and very friendly. She seems to have grown in the last 24 hours - either that or she was a bit squashed yesterday in the box coming home. The Dogmother
how's sweet little Bunty today? She's fine thanks Ali - they are eating a lot, so I'm hopeful for some eggs soon. Dizzy, the lavender araucana certainly looks ready to lay, and I'm keeping an eye out for a blue egg in the rablu.
alih
how exciting - the lavendars are so beautiful aren't they? alih
er, Clare, any updated photos we can see? Am quite missing Bunty, whose pictures I look at each night, and I imagine she has grown hugely by now...
The Dogmother
Sorry Ali, I will try to remember to take some of her tomorrow. Little Bunty has grown quite a lot - she's not as tall as Dizzy, but she's a tad flighty at the moment. We were busy all today takign shot of the cube as Phil and I put it together and got the girls into it.. will post more either Sunday or Monday, just need to find the time. Hennubi
Lovely pictures!! I cant wait to be able to go and get some too!!! Where was the breeder you went to Claret? I saw you mentioned Staffordshire but the only one I found on the buying chickens list only has one kind of Bantam so I am guessing its a different place..? Very excited!! roll on November!! The Dogmother
The breeder is in Stafford, if you email barbara@omlet.co.uyk, she has his details. I don't have them to hand at work. He had several breeds and also knows others who have good stock. You're getting to the end of the season for new stock though, so there might not be much left.
