Chili
Please can you tell me what you call a poem that does not rhyme? I can't do my DD's homework Thanks.
HENthusiastic
Are you supposed to be doing your DD's homework?
Chili
OK - maybe I need to rephrase that. I am unable to help with my daughters homework

HENthusiastic
OK - maybe I need to rephrase that. I am unable to help with my daughters homework Thats a relief, I had images of you sat at a desk doing her homework, whilst your DD was out partying! The Dogmother
Don't I've been helping Rosie with spreadsheets tonight... it's hard not to do it for them, isn't it? Bit like when I'm explaining somethign at work, then say 'give it here; it's easier to do it myself'
Guest
Someone reminded me recently that despite my own rather uninspiring school career (I failed everything - pretty much deliberatly). I once sat on the band coach and did SOMEONE ELSES English GCSE coursework - which got a B Of course now we are both teachers its a bit to remember we did that! Tessa the Duchess
I once wrote an essay on Macbeth for my son, as he was too lazy to do it himself. I only got a C for it:evil: I was livid, I deliberately made some spelling errors so it looked as though he had written it, and of course I got loads of marks off for that. The Dogmother
A quick google and here's yer answer... http://www.powertolearn.com/articles/computers_and_homework/poetry_before_you_know_it_part_2_(9-12).shtml There are many different types of non-rhyming poems such as the Acrostic, where the first letter in each line spells a word when you examine the letters vertically, or Shape poetry in which the lines of the poem create the shape of the subject of the poem. An Acrostic about Mother's Day might spell the word BEAUTIFUL, and a Shape poem about a holiday cruise might have its lines in the form of a ship. Some other types of non-rhyming poems include: Cinquain, Diamante, Haiku, Palindrome, Free Verse, etc.
