woody
I was hoping you can help me. Our 4 chickens arrived on the 10th September, from Omlet, and since yesterday (20th) one of the Miss Pepperpots (Betty) has not been her usual self. She often is standing on her own, not moving about, with her head tucked in and tail dropped, half a sleep. She did lay an egg yesterday and scratches around a bit but is not drinking and eating as much as usual. I've checked her vent and that all looks ok. There is a little clear discharge from her nose. Does this mean she has a cold ? Can you suggest what we can do to perk her up a bit and get he back to normal? chucknette
Hi Woody Sorry to hear Betty is feeling unwell. You could try some drops of citricidal in the water as this helps with the sniffles. Hope she feels better soon. Best wishes
theherd123
Im sorry the hear your chookie is under the weather. Try and encourage her to eat and drink as much as you can. You could make some warm sloppy porridge... layers pellets, warm water, a few of her favourite treats, citracidal, poultry spice. I would add citracidal to the water like Chucknette suggested too. Make sure she gets lots of TLC and if there is no improvement soon a trip to the vet maybe needed. Do keep us posted on how she is doing. ValR
My Gingernut was snuffly and sneezy from the day she arrived, and I added Citracidal to the water, poultry spice to her feed etc, but eventually (after nearly 4 weeks) took her to the vet, who's put her on a course of antibiotics. Omlet should pay the vets bills if the chook is ill during the gurantee period, and will certainly send you some Citracidal if you phone them. woody
Panic over Felt her crop this morning found it to be soft and bloated, rang omlet and spoken to my vet came to same conclusion SOUR CROP. Probiotic yogurt and apple cider vineger should clear it up, fingers crossed.
