Chook n Boo Mum
What can I store in these? My hubby suggested blackberry & apple ready for crumbles, but I'd have thought it would go urky once the first batch was removed, unless used quite quickly,as it would contain less sugar to preserve it than jam does. I know I could do boozy peaches or whatever fruit happens to come to the fore. Seems a shame to waste them, they are the ones which the chef gets olives in for the hotel hubby works in - shame they don't come with the contents too!!! Mrs Frugal
A bit mundane but I use the biggest kilner type jars to store my dry ingredients in like flour, porridge oats, desiccated coconut, sugar etc. The biggest jars hold a whole bag of flour and keep it free from weevils. Lesley
I would use them for storage as well - dry goods.
hillfamily
I would use them for storage aswell - I'm currently using 3 for storing dried lavender, another has dried fruit and I even have one with layers mash in (to make the girls porridge during the winter ) If you put apple and blackberry or similar in them, it will start to go off once it has been opened for the first time (in the way all jar goods have a long shelf life until opened - then have to be used within a few weeks)
Chook n Boo Mum
My thoughts exactly, but Mother used to do this, that & the other - and as we all know, mothers are never wrong! {I wish my son thought that at his tender age! Maybe it's something they grow in to....?} Sha xx
