keyhole kate
I need some suggestion We have a brick built shed at the bottom of the garden full of old bikes, rubbish and the lawnmower which is now redundant thanks to the efforts in trashing the lawn by the girls. I have been thinking about getting OH to build a walk in run off the shed for a few days in order to reclaim my titchy lawn then today I thought why not house my cube inside the shed about 6ft X 5ft and build a walk in run off this giving the girls an L shaded walk in run approx 4FT from shed door to back gate then coming back into the garden where they currenntly are 10Ft x 4ft. approx. Honest It would be fab, dry and warmer. He wasn't totaly against my suggestion yesterday of another run and converter as he put it they are always resaleable but I think my latest would be so much better Now this is where you all come in how to persuade my OH that this is a better idea, and not that expensive. I am relying on all of you to come up with some cunning suggestions
Mel (& Paul)
Tell him that the girls need more room and you are going to buy a new cube and long run. When he says no, suggest your suggestion - he'll be relived and say yes
Egluntyne
Tell him you have decided to start keeping pigs and it would be ideal housing for them. He will be happy then to negotiate down to your "compromise.

stoice
Sounds more fox and rat proof to me which always good (if get what you're saying your plan is - to use your shed to put your cube in?) Not sure exactly without pics but once done then the space would be more flexible for intros too as you could always fence of parts to make another dry warm house for newbies/hospital wing etc (Am i right?). Another bonus. Do i sense possibility of more chooks? (Probably keep that bit quiet). If your chooks are noisy then it would sound proof them a little more? If your chooks are noisy then it would sound proof them a little more? sorry my quote thingy wont work Yes cube inside shed with L shaped run coming off will only use there currentl cube & freeranging space If I told him I was getting goats, geese, pigs he wouldnt be surprised just an adamant NO More chooks the thought hadn't even crossed my mind I like your thinking re the soundproofing is an excellent & crafty pro! as is the weather element I have an upcoming job interview which if sucessful will see me working full time something I have never done me thinks chooks being able to freerange safely all the time without worry might just be worth throwing in he he Keep em coming I knew you would all do me proud
