Is anyone a forager?

Recommended Posts

My Dad never throws anything away and once stopped the car (on a dark, wet night) to take an old door out of a skip :oops:

I was aged about 15 at the time and it was the ULTIMATE embarrassment for me, obviously far too hip and trendy for those sorts of shenanigans :notalk: .at that age.

I still remind him about it now and he says he'd do it again !

 Screech to a halt when I see something worth plundering, dive into the skip and start chucking stuff out and into the back of the van..why else do you think I drive a van? get loads of wood for the stove like that and found some wonderful Victorian quarry tiles recently.

Hm. I am inclined to agree with you on the wood smuggling front, we have a woodburner and require free wood whenever we can find it! I WAS 15 when my dad performed this task but I'm now not adverse to a bit of 'skip diving' myself, however the ones I find are usually full of concrete and nothing exciting to be found!

Maybe I need to invest in a van and follow your example......:D
