Mark Meagher
About to receive our hens on 31 October. Does anyone have any advice on how chickens cope with fireworks? Do we need to take any action to make sure they don't get stressed? Very grateful to hear your advice. Thanks in advance!
Hen Watch
Mine were fine last bonfire night and new years eve. I just made sure the eglu door was shut early at dusk. Get the odd funny shaped torpedo egg sometimes the next day from the fright but I've also had that once from a mega thunderstorm. They will be OK
Egluntyne
Mine slept peacefully through it all.
RubyReckless
Mine have never reacted to it at all.
tenzin
TBH i don't think chickens get too stressed over fireworks . Never heard of any unsual deaths during this period of thye year . Now other animals really lose it , but chickens snuggle up .

Mark Meagher
Thanks for all the replies, we wait with anticipation the arrival of our hens. We are delighted that there is so much advice out there. Thanks to Dave, living near Farnborough we too enjoy the bi-annual noise of the Air Show, hopefully our 'girls' will get used to this too. Cheers Mark and Priscilla
