Swimming chicken

This'll make you laugh.. bit of a long story, but bear with me.

Phil was delivering Eglus yesterday and one of the questions he gets asked most is about hens near ponds i.e. don't let hens near them.....

This delivery started off a little hard as the place wasn't at all easy to find and no-one he asked in the village seemed to know where it was (and the satnav was lying), anyhow, after driving through a 'gap' in the hedge, he delivered the eglu to this lovely house with an enormous garden and a LAKE - not your usual pond, but a fenced in compound for the lucky chooks, but containing a lake (they had ducks I think).

He put together the eglu and was getting the chooks ouyt to introduce them to their new owners, and one of the hens was struggling, so he put it down for a moment to adjust his grip and the daft animal flapped off... straight into the lake, about 20 feet in towards the middle. He was just thinking 'I can see that I'm going to have to wade in' when the chook started to half swim towards him so that he could lift it out!!!!!:lol::lol:

One very wet chicken, but happy ending. I hope that the people with the lovely garden fence the pond in.

What a great story, he can dine out on a few more of these

Dippy my White Star who is very flighty once in her haste to get away from me ran straight into our small pond, fortunately because it has so many plants in it she managed to get out almost as quickly as she got in but she did look funny.

He's come back with some funny stories, most of them are related to the destination being hard to find. Some of these places are pretty remote and off the beaten track, so satnavs don't take you to the actual address. Unless the customer gives destructions when they place the order, then it's just guess-ology and having to ask people if they know a certain address.

They are able to call the customer, but sometimes they are out or don't answer the phone. He had one where the customer had said that they'd be out, so he just had to put the eglu up in the garden, pop the hens in and go..... Phil said it felt a bit strange, like he was trespassing

Would have been funny if he got the wrong house. :D

One of my Support Workers went to a patients house, she was in the bathroom so she called out a greeting, made the bed, did the washing up and made a cup of tea and toast for her.

The lady came out of the bathroom and said 'thank you so much, but who are you?'.:lol:
