alih
of chickens to introduce to 3? My beloved Iggy had to be put down today which means I am down to 3 and my cube plus 3 extensions arrives next week!! My OH may say no more chickens but would 2 be ok to add to the flock and would they have enough space as a 5 in that accommodation?
The Dogmother
Two would be good. Personally, I never introduce a lone chook - it's more trouble than it's worth.
Egluntyne
I agree....two. I did introduce one once, and it went OK, but I think that because I have so many they didn't particularly notice her. bigmommasally
I've got 5 in a cube with 2 extensions and they are fine, plenty of room so with 3 extensions you could have more than 5.
alih
Thanks guys - I was always going to introduce at least 2 but wanted to know whether it needed to be 3 on 3 as it were - I think I am going to wait till spring as we have work being done in the garden and last time we merged flocks it went well because of all the daylight/ free-ranging hours. My OH knows exactly how my mind is working so once the winter months are over I will be looking for a bluebelle and another! Sally, I would love and orpington like yours but she is so big!!
