hasnett
hi everyone, one of my bantams is looking very sorry.....i have been away for the weekend and come back to babs having been pecked bald around her head and neck and her fave is yellow not read...infact all 3 have yellow faces instead of their usual red...they are pekin bantams so have stopped laying for the winter, they are eating and drinking fine and otherwise very happy. is it just because they have stopped laying or do you think it is something more serious!! i feel terrible for leaving them! thanks x
Egluntyne
Could she be going through a moult rather than been pecked, do you think, given the other signs?
The Dogmother
Both my pekins are moulting at the moment Hasnett; their combs and wattles are very pale and they look really under the weather. Just give them some poultry tonic in their water (Lifeguard is a good one) and try them on a bit of extra protein; tuna is good for this, but not too much. ..lay a little egg for me
tuna is good for this, but not too much. I would beg you not to use tuna as the population of tuna in the wild has been reduced to 10% of its former size due to massive over-fishing. Please use a sustainable fish instead...though from what I have read it is hard to find any that is truly sustainable.
