mrsallen08
Hello all My little bantam is coming in to lay atm and Im a bit worried! I have exbatts and so very new to these softies and things. Last thursday I found a very soft shelled/half broken egg in the coop which was very small (only 11g) I presume this was her first egg as even the yolk was barely pea sized! Then on Sunday in the run there was an egg with no shell. Just yolk and white. Is this normal for when they are coming in to lay? Both eggs were tiny (less than a 2p size). They are all louse free and wormed. They have a huge run outside so get plenty of grit. My other exbatts that are laying are fine and still producing usual size eggs all with shell! Any help would be great! Thanks!
Eggstatic!
I had a few softies and a couple of shell less eggs when mine first started to lay, i think that this is normal.

Egluntyne
That's right....quite common when they are new to laying. If she is otherwise well, I wouldn't worry.

helenmb
I've got one of my newest girls starting to lay at the moment and she is very sporadic and also getting softies and shell-less ones too, think this is very common though. My girls all seem very health so just expecting things to settle down with time.
