Does any one eles chickens lay in the afternoon because mine do.They free range and then lay eggs is that normal

two of my girls lay in the morning first thing. The other (Ex-batts) lay at any time from 11-2pm

My Lillian, (light sussex), always lays in the afternoon, about 3-4pm. At least she did before she just shut up shop for the winter bless her.

My six chickens usually lay 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon - the latest being sometimes just a couple of hours before bedtime.

Mine start off in the morning and each day get a little bit later until they are laying in the evening and then they miss a day and then start all over again..

All our eggs are laid by 9.30am usually....

However, my latest ex batt to start laying did mess up the queuing sytem the other day as she was in and out for ages but wouldn't let anyone in!

 

My other 2 just had to sit cross legged at the bottom of the ladder!

Mine lay any time between pre-6am and 5pm at the moment.

Mine are the same as "KC and the chicks" in that lthey lay later and later each day until they miss a day and the start their cycle again early the next morning. I thought this was normal, sure I read somewhere that a chicken takes about 25 hours to make an egg.

They have obviously read the "chicken book" that says it takes 25 hours to make an egg. My (and many others') chooks don't appear to be going by the book at all! I can't work out what mine are doing at all, the eggs turn up at any old time, apparently at random!
