BeckyBoo
Only three huge ones, (not hornets, we had enough of them in the summer ) have just flown into my kitchen through the open back door. We had loads of wasps this year so I can only assume there ie / was a nest nearby, but not a wasp for weeks. Now three big, angry ones lazily buzzing round my kitchen looking for trouble! stoice
I'd check your eaves and your loft, maybe they have made a home nearby. We had a lazy one in our living room. Lookeed the size of a hornet so it must've been a queen. Managed to shoo it out eventually. Quite scary things really.
Guest
Yes they do, but 3 doesn't constitute a swarm. I get the feeling I may not be aware of some technical term in 'swarm'! Are you meaning some sort of travelling for the winter months?
Seagazer
Unbeknown to us we had a nest in our loft. One night I went to the bathroom, turned the light on and the bathroom was full of wasps flying around. I slammed the door shut and got OH. He got some fly/wasp spray and bravely sprayed the bathroom. In the morning there were what looked like a 200 dead wasps. Had to get a man in and he said it was a huge nest. clootie
Oh dear. I'd have a hunt around Mrs B. They're probably sleepy now but there will be more of them somewhere.
BeckyBoo
It was just the fact that we've had none come in for weeks, then I opened the back door and three flew in almost straight away and together, so I wasn't sure if there would be more of them, I know our flying ants all lift one evening in August to go and do their thing, I wasn't sure if wasps all vacated a nest in the autumn - I know nothing about them other than they are a nuisance in my book and I got stung by one when I was camping Mrs B
