I don't know if anyone can help but we're off to a caravan park in Looe, Cornwall for 5 days and it's the first time we've taken a puppy on holiday. Usually we would go to the Eden Project or Heligan but having looked at the websites it looks like we're going to be limited as to what we can do.

 

I love walking so I intend to do a bit more of the South West Coast Path with Molly and the kids but my hub has a disability so that's out for him. What do you dog owners do for days out apart from walking and does anyone have specific knowledge of the Looe area?

Seaton beach (a few miles from Looe) is ideal for the dog, you can park right beside the beach and it has easy access. Across the road from the beach there is a woodland walk that goes inland for a few miles which is a nice walk also.

 

Im not sure if dogs are allowed on Looe's main beach (some southern parts of Cornwall ban dogs all year - Falmouth being one of them), but we have taken dogs on the beach in West Looe (across the bridge) opposite that island in the sea, but its not the nicest beach - but ideal for a run.

 

I love Looe, (great pasties!), but we have always gone with the dogs - so walking is about the only thing we have done.

Seaton is great for the dog, its not the prettiest beach you will see in Cornwall but it has a river that flows into the sea which our dog loves.

The tourist board produce a leaflet which we find useful to keep in the car, which gives details of which beaches allow dogs and when. We use the north coast as thats where we live. I can recommend Perranporth beach although the car park is a nightmare in the season. We have found people are far more accommadating here with dogs locally than when we still lived up country.

We visited Eden & Heligan earlier this year and would truly recommend it, I remember seeing a kennel sign somewhere at Eden and wonder if it was for this - www.pelyntkennels.co.uk

They take animals in just for the day if you have somewhere to go.

I can recommend Perranporth beach although the car park is a nightmare in the season. We have found people are far more accommadating here with dogs locally .

 

Agree, we love Perranporth. I prefer the north coast to be honest. I dont know why but the north coast seem to be more dog friendly than the south.
