stoice
My friend will be 30 on saturday. She is 12 weeks pregnant too and has been suffering with non stop morning sickness, poor love. I'm wondering what I should get her. I'd like to get her something she can keep or maybe a pampering treat. And probably not anything specifically for the bump as it's her day to be special not the bumps. I don't have much money and this coming year is going to be pricey as at lot of us will be 30. (Argh - including me) Any ideas? Budget could stretch to about £25 but anything cheaper without it looking cheap would be great.
Egluntyne
How about a voucher for a pedicure? I give those to friends for significant birthdays, and they are always well received. A bit of pampering never goes amiss.
stoice
That sounds like a nice idea. She lives in Surrey, though, and i live in essex. Can you get universally accepted vouchers? Or I may have to do some detective work and find her nearest place from her husband
Egluntyne
You might have to do a bit of detective work.
Paola
I would have a look online for places that are local to her What part of Surrey? Near Redhill is the Nutfield Priory which does beauty treatments. I had me wedding reception there
stoice
She's near epsom. I think it might be a bit difficult to get anything to me to give to her on saturday (Leaving this a bit late aren't i?) So I might make up a pampering hamper of my own to give to her. Boots have 3 for 2 on mum to be sanctury stuff that looks nice. Or maybe some clinique or benefit goodies
Paola
Sounds lovely stoice It is always nicer having something made up, it makes it feel that extra bit special
clootie
That does sound lovely - and very personal too as you've taken the time to choose everything in it. Your friend will be delighted.
chelsea
what about a magazine subscription to a lovely mag? My friend got me one last year and was a total surprise, I loved looking forward to it coming to the door every week. Once your friend has the baby she can put her feet up and read ! Lesley
I've been buying Witches Balls for any 'big' birthdays recently. They are much nicer than they sound http://www.giftedindesign.co.uk/acatalog/witch_balls.html
missuscluck
Lesley, they are nice and unusual. I have a glass thing in my kitchen window that a friend bought me directly from the artist who blew the glass. I love it.
Cate in NZ
Lesley, thanks for posting that link......my sister would just love one of those for Christmas, so if I can persuade the company to let me pay, but deliver to her that'll be another little bit of my Christmas shopping done
clootie
I have a couple of those at home and they are really beautiful but mine aren't patterned. One is purple and the other blue. I was told that the witches are curious by the shape and reflection and when they come close for a peep, they're captured within the ball !! There are shapes in the centre of the the ball too, very fluid lines. Anyway, I ramble !! They would make a lovely gift is really what I'm trying to say !! Cooks
I love those witches balls, I wonder if I can sneak a "I would like a witches ball" into my hubby's thoughts before Christmas I love the idea of a made up hamper, I would love that myself as it means you;ve taken time to think about it's contents and made it up yourself. Karen & co.
I have a couple of witches balls still waiting to be hung up we bought them on holiday in Cornwall at least 6 years ago:oops: When my brother in law was 30 I made him up a gift box with 30 things starting with his initial A, He loved it Some were just light hearted, ie apricot scrub, I would think it would be difficult with some initials though Karen x
Chook n Boo Mum
I loooove those Witches Balls, may just send a link to my DH's email....wonder how that got there...! A personalised hamper is a fab idea, I do a small version for the mum when she's "in" having the babe, with all sorts of bits & bobs which I either forgot or would have liked to have when I was having my two bundles of joy. I tend to use a decorated shoebox, but a pretty basket which can be used for toiletries has also been very well received. Got two of these to do in the next 4-6 weeks - so exciting as the 2nd one is my first step-grandchild!! Like the lettered hamper idea too - am not usually that organised though ! dolly_mixtures
What about something from Liz Earle - www.lizearle.com - really lovely natural skincare and bath stuff and candles I think. I love it but there are very few shops and I always buy online. It comes beautifully packed and very quickly too.

stoice
Thankyou for all your wonderful ideas. I'm going to store some of those up for Christmas for a few of my other friends. In the end I got a beautiful ribbon covered stripy box from TKMax and filled it with mostly Botanics goodies from boots (They have third off at the mo) Got shampoo, conditioner, face nourishing set, foot care set, body wash, body butter, natural sponge, mit, flannel, foot soak, intensive moisturisers, bio oil and a manicure set with an electric file thingy. Just going to top it off with some herbal teas and some chocolate and i think she'll be all set for a really nice pamper hamper. Oh and TKMax also had a funky champagne bottle look alike party popper (As she can't have the 'real thing') All came in at about £30 which i didn't think was too bad for what I put in it. Hope she likes it.
