bellekatz
I have been dreading this for a while, but David Tennant will finally hang up his converse in 2010 after the 4 specials next year! Its so sad Having watched Dr Who since Tom Baker I have really enjoyed the David Tennant Doctor and will be sad to see him go - I wonder who they have lined up to replace him?? GreenGirl
There is gossip it might be James Nesbitt! just can't see that one
clootie
James Nesbitt? I still see him as Mr Hyde unfortunately - every time he's on tv I immediately see him in character.
GreenGirl
I know, he just seems too, well, grubby, to be a Dr!

Bassett
I think David Tennant is the best Dr. ever! He will be a hard act to follow.
GreenGirl
I have it V+, you know, just in case I might want to watch it again, perhaps once or twice with pause my friend knows him, and I am just about controlling myself asking to meet him at an event, because I know I would be sooo uncool and gibbering, and her husband said he is really little and only come up to my chest so I don't want to spoil the illusion
alih
I am gutted - it was my birthday yesterday and as I said to my husband (in perhaps slightly melodramatic terms) that i couldn't imagine a worse piece of news on my big day! I LOVE David Tenant - he has been such a wonderful doctor. James Nesbitt repulses me I'm afraid, to the point where I might not be able to watch if it is him. David Morrisey on the other hand... Cinnamon
I had a dream last night that John Hannah became the new Doctor................
clootie
I had a dream last night that John Hannah became the new Doctor................ Please say you didn't. Can't abide John Hannah. He's the same in everything he does, even the ads for the Co-operative. Ugh! (anyway, he's too wee, after David Tennant it would be Dr Gnome) hee hee
bellekatz
The Xmas Special withDavid Morrisey is called "The New Doctor" - methinks Mr R T Davies is playing with us....................
Fizzle Knit
I loved DT as Doctor Who but I think he's made the right decision to go now. Can't abide James Nesbitt, but David Morrissey would be good. Or maybe Russell Brand now he's out of a job?
Cinnamon
Just had a thought - Russell Brand will be looking for work, won't he?
Valkyrie
Brian Blessed - "Ooops, word censored!"ody would get a word in edgeways, but the Yeti's could reappear then! Sean's in a new Sharpe I think. Do you think Antonio Banderas would be up for it?
kitbag
I'm ssssooooooo upset!! I love David Tennant!!
Valkyrie
Colin Firth would be raaather nice. Also I think his name is Jack Davenport - the one in Pirates of the Caribbean (as long as he has a Navy outfit).
bronze
I think we need an unknown up and coming actor
Cinnamon
I think it will be - A - Someone youngish (so not Sean Bean ) B - An actor (or actress ) who has been in a well known role of late. C - A bit of a heart throb So, someone like Davind Tennant was when he got the role really The Beeb struck gold with DT,so I don't think they will stray too far from his winning formula. Therefore,I would say that the following are in for a good crack at it A - Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters, The Edge of Love) B - Eddie Redmayne (Angel in Tess of the D'urbervilles) C - Hans Mattheson (Alec in Tess) D - Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Phillip in larkrise to Candleford) or maybe Rhys Ifans or Mackenzie Crook, who are not really heart throbs, but would add a new element to the role.Maybe
