Dawn T-B
Why did I wait so long to get some chickens?! I had had the girls for a week byFriday - so i let them out on Friday afternoon to free range. They loved it. They couldn't wait to come out yesterday and today, although yesterday i needed them in early as I was going out - that was funny trying to get then in especially my Magpie - she was determined to stay out. We both know our way around the cube and garden by the time she was in! Thanks for the advice earlier in the week - they love the layers pellets and really enjoy 'porridge' on a morning. Unfortunatly won't see them much now with work and dark nights - roll on next weekend - I love this chuck keeping Dawn

chelsea
your life will never be the same again. I cant remember what life was like before chickens! Saying that, I probably was a lot wealthier and had a cleaner house! Enjoy.
Hen Watch
Hi Dawn, Glad to hear it is going well and that you are enjoying the new girls. yesterday i needed them in early as I was going out - that was funny trying to get then in especially my Magpie - she was determined to stay out. You probably already know, but invest in a sack of mixed dried corn. It's like feeding sweets to children, half an egg cup full thrown in the run and my girls ALWAYS follow within 10 seconds, never fails, even 20 months later........ mostin
They are such fun aren't they. I can't believe I waited so long either. Love the weekends and can't wait untill spring when I can play out with them on an evening again.
helenmb
I find mealworms (live are better than dried for this too) are the best bribe for my girls when I want to get them in. They just adore them.
Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations on your girls, Dawn . Glad to hear you're having fun with them! Dried mealworms do it for my girls, they go into the run on their own knowing I'll sprinkle a few down for them!
