stoice
Digital photo frame? Sneekily scan in old photos of you and him plus really old ones of him even younger. Great fun laughing at the dodgy haircuts through the years, plus he can update it whenever he likes. (Don't say he's already got one! )
Goosey Lucy
OH recently bought a Garmin Colorado for us to have as a joint 10 year wedding anniversary present (yes, I did agree to it, we're out geocaching a lot these days) It's a lot of money but there are sites where you can get it cheaper than the rrp, I haven't got the site details to hand right now, pm me if you're interested and I'll look them out. Olly
Sounds a bit like my eldest brother ... for his 60th last year my SIL got him a telescope, and we got him a GPS for walkers. There's software you can get so you can download Ordnance Survey maps to your PC, that might be good. My brother likes science-type books (although he doesn't have a science background, unlike your OH) - things like Richard Dawkins. How about a subscription to the Royal Institution - sorry, can't remember where you're located, but they do geeky lectures on issues of scientific interest. I usually end up buying my brother a selection of hot pickles, spicy mustards etc - boring, but at least I know he'll use them.
