6 month Henniversary

Recommended Posts

well i've only just realised that its been six months today since we did the trek up to Aberdeen to collect our first two chooks Ella and Gytha closely followed by Esme the next day who was a lot closer to home.

How time has flown, I feel like they have always been here, 6 months on no eggs from Ella or Gytha yet but Esme lays every day without fail.

Couldnt imagine not having the girls around now, i love the little chooky conversations we have every day, where they tell me how their day was and I pretend to understand :)

They really are the best, I know you will all understand that :D

It worries me how you say its six months since you collected your first couple of chickens - your signature would lead me to believe that you have caught a bad case of addiction.

Thinking it doesn't bode well for me....

Congratulations on your first six months

I think you are already a lost cause Redwing, haven't you just bought another eglu on the for sale pages :shameonu::lol: .

My name's Sian and I'm a chicken addict too :D

Congratulations on your henniversary  . I reached 6 months myself a couple of weeks ago and agree with everything you say about it feeling like they've always been here. My little monsters are also chatty - isn't it lovely :D

I recently purchased a (pink eglu) from ebay and have my name down for 3 more ex-batts, so I don't think my addiction's going to get cured any time soon either

I, too, am a chick-a - holic. I started off with 3 , and have added two more over the weekend (we had a spare house with run). If it wasn't for my having to go out to work, I would spend most my day watching their antics and making up songs about hens...:wink:

And 2 bantams = 1 large hen! Bantams would be perfect Egluntine!

I was thinking along those lines myself - get another eglu and some banties

Wasn't planningon getting another 4 big girls though - might have to put that plan on hold for a bit (either that or seriously speak to our end of garden neighbours about some land rental  )

I too am a hennoholic.

I now have a "vacancy" and am already considering my options.

I rather fancy delving into the world of bantams next spring.....and it wouldn't be right to just get one....would it? :D

I was so sorry to hear about Atilla but I'm glad you are ok and can think about some new girlies.

Any idea about what type of banties yet? How exciting, you have the rest of the winter to plan and choose, I bet that makes the spring seem not too far away now :D .

Don't want to hog ruth1's thread...but I fancied a couple or 4 pekins, of assorted colours. :D

Sad about Atilla, she'll be missed, but she had a happy life as part of a flock and a quick end. Can't ask for more really.
